Prerogative
This is a novelette sized short story that features within the compendium of Legacy stories yet features in a time before the first novel / script begins. The events here need not be read as a prequel, but are published for free should anyone wish to know how Serena’s crew used to operate as a cohesive unit.
The story takes place during the initial second outbreak of the Chaos Plague, on Grace Colony in the Austral-Pacific sector and deals with Serena’s attempt to evacuate a settlement in the face of Chaos-infected hordes whilst trying to locate information of a personal nature.
Unlike the novel Legacy Engendered, the story prerogative also features includes two people missing from her crew in the novel: August DeWolff, Serena’s first officer and big brother to the crew, and Grant Pierce, one of the two Engineers on the ship.
